Marimba Bands
Marimba bands are rapidly gaining popularity and becoming essential components of show bands, allowing the marimbas to individually. This ensemble consists of percussionists who skillfully perform together using mallets on the marimbas, often complemented by additional percussion instruments. In primary school groups participants can opt for either a conductor an accompaniment, but not both, providing flexibility in their musical approach. The sound of marimbas creates an engaging and dynamic performance experience.

Drumlines
Drumlines are an energetic ensemble of traditional marching drums, including snare drums, toms, tenors, bass drums, cymbals, and various percussion instruments. They showcase a dynamic blend of technical rudiments, intricate marching formations, and captivating dance movements. With elements like back-sticking and stick tricks, drumlines elevate their performance to a display of skill and showmanship. in a parade or on the field, their rhythmic beats and captivating visuals leave a lasting impression.
Parade Bands
Parade bands play a crucial role in leading processions, showcasing their rhythmic precision and vibrant performances. The drum major must skillfully navigate around designated NO GO ZONES and maneuver through obstacles, ensuring a seamless display. As they execute a series of prescribed drill movements, the band not only captivates the audience but also brings an element of entertainment to the event. This category stands out as the only one where the drum major is adjudicated, making it essential to deliver exceptional parade band shows.
Marching Showbands
Show Bands are all about putting on an unforgettable performance! Whether you're running, dancing, or using props, your talents shine while keeping the music at the forefront. Remember, choreography only makes up only 30% of your score, so focus on your musicality. With the inclusion of drum majors and color guards, you're encouraged to enhance your show, but keep in mind these elements will be evaluated as part your overall choreography. The field will be marked in accordance with international standards, resembling an American Football Field with 5-yard intervals for precise positioning.
PEP Bands
Welcome to PEP Bands, the most exciting competition for school bands around the globe! In a relaxed atmosphere, each band gets 5 minutes to showcase their school's spirit with their favorite FIGHT SONG, PEP SONG, and TIMEOUT SONG. Join us in celebrating music, camaraderie, and school pride as bands compete to show off their unique styles and energy! Get ready cheer on your favorites and experience the thrill of PEP Bands!​​

Your Fight Song should be a short song that your school sings at Rugby or Netball matches to pump up your team. ​
A PEP song is the song your band plays, that gets the entire pavilion singing, like Bohemian Rhapsody or Sweet Caroline. ​
And lastly, a Timeout is a short powerful performance, less than 20 seconds long that is played between the time that the referee blows his whistle till the time that play continues. Make it fun and powerful. ​Alright ladies and gents, here we go.
Individuals
Join us at the SASBA competitions, where talent shines and the best individual musicians are recognized! While it's often said that a band is only as strong as its weakest player, we believe in celebrating the top performers. Each band can enter up to two members from each section of the band into the Individuals competition, giving everyone a chance to showcase their skills. With growing interest, we are excited for many more successful individual competitions ahead!
